Creating An Effective Squeeze Page For Building Your Opt-In
List

Traffic is the lifeblood of every online business.

But this is a raw statement. What would you do with traffic
alone? Surely, you would not realize any profit if your
marketing campaign is merely focused on generating visitors
for your website, right? There must be some additional
steps other than the marketing strategies being taught left
and right. There must be some ways to actually convert
those visitors into real, actual sales.

The technique that most online businessmen utilize is a
squeeze page. A squeeze page is a complete page of your
website that attempts to create interests in your visitors
to transform them into paying customers.

Basically, a squeeze page has three components:

1. A sales page where you could make your
readers realize
some needs that they may not know of, as well as introduce
your product and the benefits they could derive from them.

2. A capture system which would allow you to get
your
visitors’ email addresses so that you can offer them some
packages in the future. Not all of your visitors would
decide to make a purchase, after all, and it is imperative
that you do not lose them because of this. Capturing their
contact details for follow-ups would help secure for your
business a pool of possible customers in the coming months.

3. A payment button to direct your visitors to a
payment
processing system in the event that they would decide to
make a purchase.

These three components are all compiled in one single
squeeze page, hence the name. By “squeezing” all these
ingredients into one page, you’d make things easier and
more convenient for your visitors. They won’t have to
navigate through complicated menu systems. All that they
need, and all that you want them to know, can be found in
one page.

But a squeeze page has taken a new, more effective meaning
because of the innovative strategy that quite a number of
Internet marketers have started to employ. Today, a squeeze
page refers to a two page setup. The first page would
contain useful information about the subject of your
business.

At the end of such a page is a sign-up option,
with a reminder that if the reader would want more
information about the said subject, he could simply type in
his email address and he will be updated regularly. Upon
sign-up, the reader would be led to a new page that would
contain the bulk of the sales page. This would provide a
humungous boost to your signup rate!

The trick is in creating a sales page that would be able to
convert a lot of people into successful sales. This
primarily lies on how effective your sales page is. Your
sales page is the engine of your squeeze page.

Not only will this component have the most lines of text,
it would also provide a great bulk of the content for your said
squeeze page. The words you will use therein, and how you
would formulate your sales copy, are essential in convincing
your readers to make a purchase.

But, building your mailing list is also an important goal of
your squeeze page. Your introductory page should be
engaging enough to arouse interest from your readers, and
though most of the time, such interest won’t be enough to
compel them into buying what you have to offer, it might be
sufficient enough to compel them to leave their email
addresses so that you can contact them in the future, with
new offers they might want to own.

But how exactly would you be able to do this? How exactly
could you format your squeeze page to effectively build
your mailing list?

Here are some suggestions:

Personalize your squeeze page. Admittedly, this would be
difficult to do manually, and though you could tinker with
your web page’s source code to automate this task, it is
not really a task for people with little to no programming
skills.

Personalizing your squeeze page according to the
information your visitors would provide is an effective
technique to use. People respond more when they are
referred to by their given names. You might want to avail
of read-made programs that would generate personalized
squeeze pages for you.

Keep things simple, clean and organized. A cluttered
squeeze page would just be too inconvenient for your
visitors. They might leave such a page as quickly as they
would arrive. Follow the outline below instead:

a) your headline
b) your introductory content
c) your signup box
d) a redirecting script that would bring your reader to the next page
e) your sales page
f) payment option

Try not to jumble each section with the rest. Your squeeze
page must give the impression of order and ease of use.

Use your squeeze page as your website’s landing page, that
is, the first page that your visitors would see upon
visiting your website.

Squeeze pages have been hailed as one of the most
revolutionary methods in Internet marketing. A lot of
people can’t be wrong, so it would serve you well if you’d
decide to test drive this tactic.

A big welcome to our visitors…

Saturday 10 December 2005 @ 9:43 am

Hello everyone, This is the first post of The Free Marketer Blog since we opened up on our new server — we now have 11800 MB of disk space, oodles of bandwidth and streaming video… I’m like a proud father.  All of my .com’s can now be hosted under one centralized management roof, which I’ll be doing. F.Y.I.

Most of the content on this site can also be found at our "twin" site at http://bigmarketing.blogspot.com — the original FreeMarketer Blog.

We will keep that one running for the time being because it’s a fabulous marketing and search engine booster, among other things. You can also find lots of useful tools and information at our main site at Vastdream.com I’m anxious to spread my wings, and as I do I’ll share with you some of my more exciting finds.

Yes, I’ll use cliche’s every so often, mainly because it’s a fast, effective way to get a point across. I am so very pleased with this hosting service that I’m going to offer most of my commissions to anyone that finds themselves in the position I was in, looking for a large capacity, dependable, hosting company with custom features at a great price. I’ll go into the features of this hosting in a later article,

For now I’ll just give all my FreeMarketer readers this link, and all you do is enter this special code to get the discounted price (the discounted amount will show up when you go to check out) With the discount I’m giving, you’ll get a full Year at 9,800 MB, unlimited .com’s, and one free .com too!

I can’t tell you here exactly how much it will cost you, because it depends on which package you get — they’re all huge. It’s practically free though — what’s really cool, is that you get extra storage and bandwidth just by sticking with them as your host.. What more could you want?. No extra costs or fees, no setup fee. Just go read the site. http://snipurl.com/jrbn Put in this code: D2C You WILL thank me later.

Introduction to Autoresponders — The Unsung Hero of The FreeMarketer ======================================================

If you’ve reached the point of exhaustion trying to keep up with answering the mountain of emails that threaten to bury you alive every single day — you’re most probably ready to learn about autoresponder systems.

The bad news is that people have grown to expect prompt replies to their email inquiries.  However, unless you can figure out how to work continual twenty-four hour shifts, or hire enough people to constantly monitor incoming emails (while they’re eating up your revenue), you have a problem.

The good news is, that very sophisticated and powerful email automatic responder systems can be an inexpensive (or even free) method of quickly responding to email requests and at the same time logging the information of those making the request.  This helps avoid the risk of being accused of spamming at the same time.

Follow up autoresponders come in many varieties, ranging from very simple to a robust enterprise autoresponders, but they all perform the same basic function. Upon the triggering of a certain email address, that is in fact the email address for the autoresponder system the system will kick back to the sender You will need to "set up" your autoresponder system with your own personalized, pre-defined messages and the email automatic responses you wish to provide to the client.

Thus, the name "autoresponder", or sequential automatic responder, or email automatic responder, or followup automatic responder… The point is, whatever you want to call them, these little buggers really perform an extremely useful and necessary function, one that must be done anyway if you want to succeed online.

The autoresponder system is your "mouthpiece", automatically delivering your personalized message day or night. It’s your way of communicating with, and keeping track of your clients, customers, readers, etc. Like speech itself, eventually, everyone will have to use it to maintain relationships and respond in real time (or as close to it as you can get) on a continuous basis. You can get an full-featured, email automatic responder from a number reputable places for F’ree.

The freemarket competition has been extremely beneficial to the consumer in the case of the autoresponder system. Here are a few that have about the same excellent features for free. With each of them you can upgrade to a more robust autoresponder service. But, you don’t need that when you start out, and that’s the point.

Don’t pay for something if you can truly get it free.

Upgrading to Pro from the free autoresponder account is usually about $10 /month for the stand-alone online autoresponder service. I say standalone, because you can also get the full blown autoresponder service as part of a centralized business management service. That’s my terminology, but it’s descriptive enough to get the point across here.

Such a service handily links and centralizes most, if not all of your online business functions. The wisdom of such a system should be obvious. You don’t need multiple, seperate databases (and the resulting update, syncronization problems, errors… blah, blah..), the customer can use whatever services are available under the umbrella very selectively.

For example, say you wanted to advertise your brand new Super Widget 5000. Normally, you would need a bunch of different systems to manage everything. You’ll need a client database, a payment/ecomm/Merchant account system, an email broadcasting system, an email autoresponder system, a tracking system, a seperate support ticket system, an affiliate management system, a lead generating and maintenance system that includes a popup generator and forms generator, etc.

So, at the end of the day, would you pay maybe $40 month for all the above stuff as an integrated solution, vs. a standalone product that you must pipeline in some way into your business. When it’s time to pay the piper, you should weigh your autoresponder options and business integration needs carefully. What is your time worth, your effort, etc.

If a tool that costs you $40 a month saves you a lot of time and headaches, and more importantly, presents a very professional and coordinated front and backend for your business, isn’t it worth it. (yes, that was rhetorical) I cannot cover everything here and now, but much of what you must consider is a matter of determining what, if any problems you have with your email response system now that can be solved with a better autoresponder system.

It’s nothing to sneeze at when a free service can provide this much value for no out of pocket expenses!

For instance, with any of the top free email autoresponders you can do these functions:

* Gather legitimate Opt-in leads automatically.

* Track the ad that generated the lead.

* Broadcast messages to your lists - you can usually have multiple autoresponderswith one account.

* Automatically respond to customers via email with text and/or html messages.

* Function as a database of your Sign-ups to your newsletter, club, blog, user group or whatever.

* Automatically distribute on a daily basis a sequential set of pre-written messages to your clients. This is perhaps one of the most useful and powerful features of the autoresponder — that you can deliver a "series" of email, letters, lessons, messages of any kind at specific intervals.

* Allows you to do an email "blast" to your database of clients at once.

* Allows you to develop an ongoing and hopefully deepening relationship with yourreaders - establish yourself as a pro, build confidence, etc.

* Allows you to make offers and requests of the respondents and logs their information.

* Use RSS in combination with your autoresponder system to create and syndicate your custom message to entire networks of people in a few seconds.

There is a simple link inside your autoresponder system panel that you simply cut and paste onto your newletters, webpages, etc., that will give your clients your Newletter via an RSS feed. Super cool, and easy. For writers and others that rely on communications and IE for their living, this tool is a dream come true. Think about it. If you can write, you can package it as an ongoing newletter or lesson set and just upload your material at will. That includes pictures, forms, etc.

The multiplying effect of the autoresponder as a business tool, in terms of efficiency is almost endless… Many people are scared away by the thought of having to setup everything and actually make it work — and then you gotta come up with that content… ouch.

We’ll get into how to get free and cheap content later. Most people already know where to go, but for those who don’t, we’ll throw you a bone in the near future. Actually, you may find some links on The FreeMarketer Blog which this message is posted on as well. There is indeed some thoughtful work that must go into setting up the autoresponder system properly.

But, most of your efforts will be directed toward writing the content and getting it entered into the system. . It’s usually best to compose/construct the content and get it ready in seperately named and numbered descriptive files so you can easily discern the sequence of the file (.txt or doc format for text files), and use an html editor of your choice for the html emails you want to send and copy/paste that html into the autoresponder system

Or, you can also use the simple html editor that comes inside the autoresponder system panel. Be warned, that free autoresponder services may limit html and some other functions. There are many that don’t, so shop around before taking the time to set everything up. Using them is quite straightforward in fact. Most of the autoresponders I like are based upon the same underlying script (they are too similar not to be) and perform the same basic functions, in essence.

Actually, it is a good script and provides an excellent and very user-friendly front-end. Here are a couple of them so you can see what I mean:

http://professionalautoresponder.com

http://unlimitedfollowupmate.com

http://sendfree.com/

The speed of the servers the system resides on should be a concern. If they could not adequately handle the traffic of those freepers using the system it could bog down. Since the servers can run their own internal email queing system (cron job), it may just take a little longer for your messages to go out. Usually it’s not a big deal as long as it’s no more than a few hours.

Generally it’s minutes if not seconds in my experience, and I’ve had account at the above autoresponder services for 6 months to a year with no problems.. Also, make sure you have all your sequential messages saved offline so you can rebuild or move everything quickly to another autoresponder service in the event your freebie autoresponder service goes down for any reason.

There is one big problem with many large autoresponder systems. The No.1 problem is "Bounced" email, largely from the spam filters located on the servers side that blocks out about 50% of legitimate email! I will happily provide you below with a clever way around this bounced email problem, and all the other problems inherent in email autoresponder systems.

It’s actually based upon a totally new email technology that does not use email! Cool eh. No monthly fees either. I don’t want to get off-track here, just to say that if you are truly in need of real email automatic responder power and productivity, you’ll need to step into the latest in communications technology… D2C. Why not get a power tool that actually gets the job done.

It’s the productivity multiplier. So, the state-of-the-art right now as I see it, is basically the D2C system, which runs about $197 one-time, combined with either the enterprise management solution/service, which includes a fully integrated autoresponder system, or a self-hosted standalone sophisticated autoresponder script.

Another way that works fine and eliminates ongoing monthly fees, is to use the free autoresponder in conjunction with the D2C system. You should always have a backup autoresponder ready to go if need be. For the D2C system to work, the recipient must go through a very painless install of tiny piece of client software, much like the Adobe Acrobat reader or the eFax Reader, etc.

Once installed, you have a direct communications pipeline to all the fully opt-in members, with 100% delivery. The possibilities for this software are virtually limitless. The D2C software allows the client to pull the messages back to themselves, like an RSS feed, they get alerts and messages that bypass totally the email system. Sweeeet…

That’s neat because the usual email system is exactily where all the sharks are swimming.  The home of the spam, the untamed cyber-wilderness that spews forth endless piles of spam. Gone.  By the way, I’ll try to post more info about D2C later for those who don’t have time to read it all.  It’s a pretty big page with a lot of information about typical autoresponder systems vs. the D2C system. It’s quite an education actually.
